Copperline

Designed as a companion piece to the Into Gold hat, these mitts are an elegant accessory—with loads of knitterly details.

The mitts begin with the cabled band, which is worked flat, then joined in the round. Stitches are then picked up along each edge. One set  becomes the neat I-cord edging that finishes the bottom of the band, the other, the Woven Stitch cuff and hand.

Woven Stitch is very elastic, and the mitts are designed to fit with a bit of negative ease. Unstretched mitts will measure approximately ½" [1 cm] smaller than given hand size.

GAUGE

Because the mitt's cabled cuff is worked laterally around the circumference of the wrist, the primary gauge for the pattern is the row gauge for the Coin Cable band.

Band gauge: 11 sts x 32 rows = 1½ x 4" [3.75 x 10 cm] in Coin Cable pattern, after washing and blocking. Suggested needle size: US 5 [3.75 mm].
